Reopened after the 2020 Riverside Fire; closed for a time by the 2026 Austin Fire

In late August 2026 the Austin Fire closure took in the campgrounds east of Carter Bridge, Armstrong among them. Highway 224 reopened west of Fish Creek on September 17; the Forest Service’s page for Armstrong still showed it closed in October.

Our photos are from July 2019, a year before the fire. Checked October 2026.
