Promontory Park is Portland General Electric’s campground on the Clackamas where the river widens into North Fork Reservoir, seven miles past Estacada and an hour from Portland. Paved sites under tall firs, canvas yomes and small cabins, hot showers, a marina and a store on the reservoir, and a fishing pond just for kids.
It sits at the bottom of the corridor the 2020 Riverside Fire burned. In May 2021, KOIN reported, the Forest Service said there were no open campgrounds past it. Sites 24, 25, 40 and 41 are closest to the river; the yomes are at 6, 10, 11, 12, 15 and 42, the cabins at 14, 33, 39 and 40.
